Our History
J2! (Joy to Infinity) was established in 2023 to expand access to high-quality arts education for young people in East Side Atlanta. Inspired by a longstanding tradition of artistic excellence and community engagement, the organization was founded on the belief that every student deserves the opportunity to explore, create, and thrive through the arts.
Today, J2! operates as an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering youth through free and accessible programs in visual arts, performance, design, and creative expression. While our name has evolved, our mission remains the same: to cultivate creativity, build confidence, and create pathways for young artists to discover their potential.
As J2! (Joy to Infinity), we look toward the future with optimism and purpose, fostering a vibrant community where students, artists, educators, and supporters come together to celebrate imagination, resilience, and the transformative power of the arts. Our HISTORY
Inspired by the strength, unity, and dedication of a community that believes deeply in the power of the arts, J2! was founded to ensure that young people in East Side Atlanta have access to meaningful creative opportunities. Built on the belief that artistic expression can inspire, connect, and transform lives, J2! serves as a place where creativity is nurtured, voices are amplified, and community is strengthened through the arts.
Under the leadership and guidance of its Board of Directors, J2! has continued to evolve as an independent nonprofit organization committed to expanding access to arts education and creative experiences for youth and families. Guided by a shared vision of inclusion, opportunity, and artistic excellence, the organization works to create pathways for young people to discover their talents, build confidence, and engage with the broader community through creative expression.
Since its founding, J2! has been guided by the values of Community, Creativity, and Impact. Through accessible programming, mentorship, and artistic collaboration, the organization continues to cultivate a vibrant cultural ecosystem where young people are empowered to explore their potential, celebrate their unique perspectives, and contribute to a more connected and creative future.
Our Values
Community is the foundation of J2!. We believe that creativity thrives when people come together to support, encourage, and learn from one another. Our programs foster meaningful connections among students, artists, families, educators, and community partners who share a commitment to the arts.
Creativity is at the heart of everything we do. We provide opportunities for young people to explore their artistic voices, take creative risks, and develop the skills needed to express themselves with confidence and authenticity.
Impact guides our work and our vision for the future. Through arts education, mentorship, and collaborative experiences, we empower young people to discover their potential, strengthen their sense of purpose, and contribute positively to their communities.
Since its founding, J2! has remained dedicated to expanding access to high-quality arts experiences for youth in East Side Atlanta. In its first year, the organization experienced remarkable growth, increasing student enrollment by 133% and doubling participation in its Creative Reading and Writing Program from 900 to 1,800 engagement hours. These milestones reflect both the demand for accessible arts education and the commitment of a community determined to invest in its young people.
Students engage in a diverse range of artistic disciplines—including visual arts, theatre, music, dance, digital media, creative writing, and interdisciplinary arts—while learning from professional artists, educators, and community mentors who believe in their potential.
What began as a commitment to creative opportunity has grown into a movement fueled by resilience, collaboration, and a shared belief in the transformative power of the arts. As an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, J2! continues to create spaces where young people are seen, heard, and celebrated—developing not only as artists, but as leaders, storytellers, innovators, and engaged members of their communities.
